Brooklyn, New York, U.S.A.-based Acme Smoked Fish recalled one lot of Costco private label smoked salmon due to the potential for Listeria monocytogenes.
“With an abundance of caution, Acme Smoked Fish Corp has initiated a voluntary recall on certain packages of Kirkland Signature Smoked Salmon due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes,” Acme CEO Eduardo Carbajosa said in a letter to Costco members. “We regret this unfortunate incident and have taken immediate corrective steps to ensure that this issue never happens again.”
The recall is limited to the lot number specified, distributed over the time period mentioned in the letter at Costco stores in the Southeast only, a spokesperson told SeafoodSource.
Acme issued a press release stating the recall impacted 111 cases of its Kirkland Signature Smoked Salmon with a best-by-date of 13 November, 2024.
The recall applies to one Kirkland Signature Smoked Salmon lot number: 8512801270, which customers would have purchased from 9 October to 13 October. The product is vacuum paced in a black bordered plastic package, with “Smoked Salmon” on the front in blue letters.
Customers who have the product should not consume it, Carbajosa said. Instead, they should return it to Costco for a full refund.

The company said the product was distributed to the Southeast Costco Distribution Center located in West Palm Beach, Florida and Costco Warehouse stores in Florida.
“To date there have been no reported illnesses linked to the recall,” Acme said.
