SNP calls on industry to reach fundraising goal

The Seafood Nutrition Partnership (SNP) has launched the public phase of its fundraising campaign.

To date, SNP has raised USD 6 million (EUR 4.3 million) during the quiet phase of the campaign, nearing the goal of USD 7.5 million (EUR 5.4 million) — half of what is ultimately needed to underwrite a three-year national public health campaign that would begin in 2015.
Leaders of the partnership are calling for all businesses in the seafood industry to contribute to the cause to help make this grassroots initiative a reality.

SNP is attending Seafood Expo North America 16 to 18 March in Boston to invite the seafood industry to contribute the remaining USD 1.5 million (EUR 1.08 million) goal.

In-parallel with reaching the goal of USD 7.5 million from the seafood industry, SNP is raising an additional USD 7.5 million from a cross-section of healthcare related businesses and philanthropic organizations.

“With America’s health on the line, now is the time for all key players in the seafood industry to step forward and demonstrate the positive difference that eating seafood can make on the well-being of the U.S. population,” said Linda Cornish, SNP executive director. “Our plan for confronting the nation’s health crisis is not that complicated, but it takes time, partners and resources, if we are to truly affect change in the American diet at a societal level. Through this effort, we can inspire a healthier nation, but the time to act is now.”
