Supermarket chain Aldi has launched a 30-centimeter sushi-roll product into the U.K. market to mark the start of the Tokyo Olympics.
Available in all stores beginning on 22 July, Aldi’s Japanese-inspired Footlong Sushi is priced at GBP 2.49 (USD 3.42, EUR 2.91). Designed for sharing, each roll comprises two different flavors: One half contains smoked salmon that has been rolled in mixed sesame seeds, while the other half features katsu chicken topped with sesame seeds and crispy onions.
Footlong Sushi is the latest addition to Aldi’s food-to-go range. The retailer has also launched new Specially Selected Veg Nests & Dim Sum and Specially Selected Gyoza & Fishcakes, both priced at GBP 2.99 (USD 4.11, EUR 3.49).
On 29 July, Aldi will also start selling its new Specially Selected Turbot Fillets. The fish, which are being caught off the south coast of the U.K., will be sold at GBP 24.95 (USD 34.29, EUR 29.12) per kilogram. Aldi said that the average pack price will be GBP 3.99 (USD 5.48, EUR 4.66) each.
