A limited-time offering from home meal-kit maker Blue Apron is intended to give crab-lovers a special treat.
Its Summer Crab Picnic is available through 28 August. It serves eight and includes Crab Salad Sandwiches with Chives & Celery; Romaine Wedge Salad with Bacon and Everything-Seasoned Ranch; Corn Salad with Avocado, Cucumber, and Honey-Lime Dressing; and Summer Fruit Pie with Cornmeal Crumble.
The Summer Crab Picnic will be available for USD 154.99 (EUR 141.98), alongside another summer LTO, a BBQ Rib Feast, beginning on 3 July. Blue Apron said its current two limited-time, seasonal meal offerings are “perfect for summertime gatherings and festive celebrations.” Each box comes with a recipe for a summer cocktail to pair with the meal. The boxes can be ordered as part of a subscription through Blue Apron’s website and mobile app, and without a subscription on the Blue Apron Market and Amazon.com.
“Our summer meal kits are anchored around culinary exploration, ease, and convenience with new seasonally-inspired, quality ingredients,” Blue Apron Senior Vice President of Physical Product John Adler said. “The crab salad sandwiches are a perfect summer staple, with pre-cooked, easy-prep lump crab meat, allowing customers to spend less time in the kitchen.”
Founded in 2012, New York City-based Blue Apron offers a meal-kit subscription service available throughout the United States. Its meals feature fresh produce, whole grains, and high-quality proteins including seafood.
“Summer’s here, and we’re not letting a minute of it go to waste. Our newest seasonal box introduces lump crab to the menu, part of an easy feast that brings everyone together. Our crab comes pre-cooked to cut down on prep, and veggie-powered sides feature seasonally inspired ingredients like corn and summer fruit,” the company said on its website.
Occasionally, Blue Apron makes seasonal meal kits available throughout the year “to help customers celebrate special moments [or] a particular season or event … [that] include recipe formats that feature ‘best of the season’ proteins, produce, and ingredients for a premium and memorable experience.”
In 2022, Blue Apron offered a Summer Lobster Box, which included Lobster Rolls with Lemon and Chives, Creamy Potato Salad with Capers and Pickled Peppers, Corn on the Cob with Garlic and Herb Butter, and Green Salad with Feta, Tomatoes, and Radishes. The meal kit contains ingredients to make all four recipes served four and cost USD 129.98 (EUR 122.82).
Blue Apron has previously featured other seafood, including as part of a collaboration with Roy’s Seafood Founder Roy Yamaguchi, and in 2021, it became the first meal-kit supplier to join the Ocean Disclosure Project.
