Deen launches retail seafood products

New fresh and frozen seafood products marketed under the Paula Deen’s Southern Dishes line will be unveiled tonight at an invitation-only event in New York.

Deen, celebrity chef of the Lady & Sons restaurant and Uncle Bubba’s Oyster House in Savannah, Ga., and host of the Food Network’s “Paula’s Best Dishes,” “Paula’s Party” and “Paula’s Home Cooking,” will attend the event.

The products are expected to be on U.S. supermarket shelves within two to three months, according to Peter Gurley, VP of Gobo Enterprises.

The marketing and product development agency secured the branding rights to market Deen’s product in December 2008. The agency qualifies and licenses U.S. suppliers to process products for the Deen line.

Products will be marketed to supermarkets and club stores, including Target, Wal-Mart, Wegmans, HEB, BJ’s Wholesale Club and Costco. The line includes retail and club store packages of Homestyle Breaded Shrimp, Key Lime Butter Salmon, Savannah Crab Cakes, “Shore is Good” Seafood Dip, Cajun Breaded Catfish Strips and “New Orleans” Style BBQ Shrimp.

A Seafood Roll-Ups line features salmon stuffed with “Mama’s Deviled Crab,” tilapia stuffed with lobster stuffing, catfish stuffed with Cajun stuffing and snapper stuffed with “Mama’s Crabmeat Stuffing.”
