Fleming’s promotes Alaska king crab

Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar is spicing up its Memorable Meal menu with Alaska king crab this summer.

The upscale U.S. chain on Thursday debuted Alaskan King Crab Legs, priced at USD 99 (EUR 77.69) for two diners or USD 49.50 (EUR 35.34) for one diner.

Guests can choose between a 1/2 pound of king crab legs served with drawn butter or a filet mignon with 3/4 pounds of king crab legs. Also included in the three-course meal are two Butter Lettuce Salads with Citrus Dressing, Gala Apples and Garden-Basil Chiffonade; Warm Yukon Gold Potato Salad and Summer Squash; and Summer Berry Cobblers with Slow-Churned Vanilla Ice Cream.

Fleming’s Memorable Meal menu is available from 1 July to 31 August at all 63 Fleming’s restaurants nationwide. The addition of Alaska king crab to the menu is the brainchild of Fleming’s Executive Chef Russell Skall, who was inspired by his time in Alaska.

“In Alaska, there are three kinds of king crab: red, blue and golden,” said Skall. “Red is considered the best, and it reminds me of the days when I was up in Alaska opening a restaurant. I’d get in a little fishing before lunch, and when I'd get back to the pier I’d watch the boats unload pounds and pounds of wild-caught red Alaska king crab. For me, as a chef, this was like seeing pure inspiration. So many delicious ideas would run through my mind, I could almost taste them. This summer, I’m bringing them to life for guests of Fleming’s.”

Diners who make reservations for the Memorable Meal menu online will receive a USD 25 (EUR 17.85) Fleming’s gift card at the end of their meal; it’s valid from 1 to 31 September.

Fleming’s is owned by OSI Restaurant Partners of Tampa, Fla., parent company of Outback Steakhouse, Carrabba’s Italian Grill and Bonefish Grill.
