JBS Packing remains a leader in Grade A, wild caught Gulf shrimp

JBS Packing Company Inc.  brings product from fleets direct to stores with the goal of sourcing, processing, packaging and distributing fresh, wild caught shrimp. Caught by vessels that are either company owned or contracted, the shrimp stems from Florida, Al. , Ms.,& Louisiana as well as Texas.

Shrimp processed by JBS Packing is unloaded directly from trawlers at the company’s waterfront facility, located in Port Arthur, Texas. The company was founded in 1988 by Jack and Brad Hemmenway in Port Arthur, where it continues to operate today.

More than 100 employees process shrimp such as brown, white, pink, royal red, rock, and seabobs. Shrimp available is headless, peeled, peeled and deveined, peeled and deveined (tail-on), or EZ peel. The company processes 125,000 pounds of shrimp per day, with product names such as Lucky Seas, Texas Style, Key Treasure, Sea Market and Captain Jack. All products are available with no chemicals added.

JBS Packing is able to meet the needs of customers thanks to state-of-the-art equipment housed in a modern facility that was rebuilt in 1999 and reconditioned in 2005 and 2010. Currently, JBS Packing is also experiencing another large expansion.

Most notable about the company’s product is its U.S. Grade A seal of approval. A number of benefits are had with the Grade A label, including consumer confidence, consumer safety and advertising incentives.  Grade A shrimp products can be used in fresh counters and advertised as US Grade A .

JBS can also pack Grade A in a company label or store brand and can aid with package approval by the appropriate government agency.
