King crab bisque wins People’s Choice award

Alaskan King Crab Bisque from Tracy’s King Crab Shack of Juneau, Alaska, won the Seattle People’s Choice Award in the 19th annual Alaska Symphony of Seafood. The People’s Choice award was presented during a reception on Thursday night at the Palace Ballroom in downtown Seattle.

A total of 19 entries were evaluated by a panel of 10 judges according to packaging and presentation, overall eating experience, price and potential for commercial success.

The second portion of the Alaska Symphony of Seafood will be held in Anchorage, Alaska, on 10 February. The grand prize winner as well as the first, second and third place winners of each of the three categories — retail, foodservice and smoked — are kept confidential until the Anchorage gala. A People’s Choice award will also be selected in Anchorage.

The grand prize and first place winners in each category are given booth space at the International Boston Seafood Show in March, as well as airfare to and from the event. Organized by the Alaska Fisheries Development Foundation, the event is designed to inspire better use and innovation of Alaska’s seafood resources.
