Ready-to-eat meal delivery service Factor, owned by the Berlin, Germany-based HelloFresh Group, recently doubled the number of seafood meals it offers as part of its largest menu expansion yet.

Factor now features over 100 weekly options for digital customers, including high-protein meals, offerings for people taking GLP-1 medications, and globally inspired dishes crafted by chefs and dietitians, the company said.

“We've doubled our menu options to include more of what our customers want – from high-protein choices to globally inspired veggie-packed dishes,” Factor CEO Adam Park said.

The biggest changes the company has made around seafood include removing the “premium upcharge” for such species as barramundi and doubling the number of seafood meals available on the menu each week, HelloFresh North America Director of Sustainability Jeffrey Yorzyk told SeafoodSource.

“Chef-crafted meals now feature shredded beef, pork, meatballs, new protein-rich breakfasts and light lunches, plus seafood like salmon, barramundi, and shrimp at no extra cost,” Factor said.

Yorzyk added that the company is committed to only sourcing seafood that is rated Green or Yellow by the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch program or eco-certified by programs such as the Marine Stewardship Council, the Aquaculture Stewardship Council, or Best Aquaculture Practices.

“We are proud to share that 99 percent of our 2024 seafood procurement met this standard,” Yorzyk said.

Seafood Watch is also a key partner for HelloFresh and Factor and serves as an advisor in its efforts to “address the many facets of sustainable seafood, from environmental impact to traceability and social responsibility,” Yorzyk said.

Earlier this year, HelloFresh, which is also owned by the HelloFresh Group, similarly expanded its seafood options and added bigger portions.

New York City, New York, U.S.A.-based HelloFresh North America said the “major menu transformation” was aimed at empowering every household to discover the love of home cooking.

“Whether it's a craving for globally inspired flavors, a need for quick weeknight solutions, or a focus on nutrition with fresh seasonal vegetables or high-protein options, the revamped menu is crafted to fit seamlessly into the home cook’s tastes and preferences,” the company said at the time.
