New plant-based seafood alternative to hit UK retail shelves in 2019

Plant-based seafood alternative developer All About Healthy Foods Holdings (AAHF) has secured a distribution contract with Liverpool, United Kingdom-based company Worldwide Food Associates to introduce its Loma Linda products to the U.K. market.

New Orleans, Louisiana, U.S.A.-based AAHF, which is the principal owner of Nashville, North Carolina-based Atlantic Natural Foods, has spent the past year preparing for the U.K. launch of its Loma Linda shelf-stable meal solutions, including Tuno, the company’s new plant-based seafood alternative. Over 12 months, AAHF has tailored its product flavor profiles and packaging to appeal specifically to British tastes, the company said.

Consumers in the U.S. market have been responding enthusiastically to AAHF’s plant-based protein offerings, a point of encouragement for when Loma Linda products begin hitting retail shelves in the United Kingdom early next year, the company added.

“As we continue our journey in food development, we are pleased with the enthusiastic consumer reception of our ready-to-eat meals, and we’re exceptionally bullish on our newest creation, Tuno,” AAHF Chairman J. Douglas Hines said. “Tuna to Tuno is a culmination of years of development. Going forward, we will continue to innovate and create long-term, sustainable protein sources and resources to support growing populations around the world.

AAHF products are tentatively scheduled to be available for purchase at U.K. supermarkets in January 2019. The company is looking forward to its partnership with Worldwide Food Associates, according to ANF Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing Chris Solly.

“In Worldwide Food Associates, we have found a true partner who shares our commitment to producing and distributing high-quality, sustainable, and tasty foods that are good for you and our planet,” Solly said.

“We’re thrilled to utilize our relationships and experience to bring shelf stable, plant-based foods to the U.K. consumer. Loma Linda products are healthy, easy to carry, prepare in two minutes, and taste great, too,” WFA Managing Director Eric Woods added.

AAHF is member of the AFT Holdings, Inc. portfolio of companies, with offices in San Diego, California and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, U.S.A. Its mission is to "create and manage the future of functional and healthy sustainable foods," according to a company statement. It is the principal owner of Atlantic Natural Foods, LLC of Nashville, North Carolina, U.S.A., and a North American JV with Freedom Foods Australia.

In April 2018, AFT Chairman J. Douglas Hines made a much-publicized exit from ownership of the U.S.-flagged fleet of ocean-going tuna seiners. Hines told SeafoodSource he took the action due to overlapping and unfair standards that made it difficult to operate.
