Northern Wind launching new value-added seafood line featuring 16 products

New Bedford, Massachusetts-based seafood supplier Northern Wind is launching a new line of culinary-inspired seafood products under its Bon Cuisine brand this month.

Sixteen offerings comprise the latest Bon Cuisine line, including Zucchini & Smoked Salmon Fritters, Spinach & Cheese Salmon Kiev, Salmon En Croute, Pre-fried Crab Bites, Raw Garlic Butter Shrimp Skewers, Pre-Fried Shrimp Zucchini Fritters, and a Hoki Fish Taco Kit. Catering to consumer demand for adventurous flavors and ready-to-cook convenience, the new range “offers customers a trendy restaurant quality seafood option,” Northern Wind explained in a 2 March press release.

The new Bon Cuisine seafood line is available to be sold across the United States in chain supermarkets, independent supermarkets, gourmet food stores, club stores, and foodservice. The range marks Northern Wind’s entry into the value-added category, a move that’s permitting the company to expand its portfolio beyond scallops and tuna.

“We know that our customers are looking for new, exciting and innovated value-added seafood products for their customers. We believe our new Bon Cuisine product line meets that challenge and fills a void that has been in the market for way too long,” Northern Wind CEO George Kouri said.

The complete Bon Cuisine range includes: Zucchini & Smoked Salmon Fritter; Smoked Salmon Hash Cakes; Spinach & Cheese Salmon Kiev; Salmon En Croute; Pre-Fried Fish & Chips Goujon; Raw Garlic Butter Shrimp Skewers; Pre-Fried Crab Bites; Pre-Fried Double Crunch Shrimp – Salt & Pepper; Pre-Fried Double Crunch Shrimp – Hot & Spicy; Pre-Fried Double Crunch Shrimp – Spicy Nacho; Pre-Fried Double Crunch Shrimp – Karaage; Shrimp Shaomi; Shrimp & Chive Gyoza; Hoki Fish Taco Kit; Raw Mixed Seafood Scallops Marnay in Shell; and Bao Bun Kit – Hot n Spicy Double Crunch Pawns.

Founded in 1987, Northern Wind is a direct off-loader, processor, and distributor of fresh and frozen scallops. The company is a member of the American Scallop Association, and sells scallops under the Five Star Premium, Captain’s Call, Mariner’s Choice, Sea Spray, and Bon Cuisine brands. The seafood supplier recently completed the construction of its new, 38,000-square-foot facility in New Bedford. The new facility features a 21,600-square-foot holding freezer with a 5.5-million-pound capacity, and a new high-efficiency processing line capable of processing 12,000 scallops per hour.
