Ocean Beauty’s new frozen mussel line

Ocean Beauty Seafoods on Wednesday announced the launch of the St. Andrews brand of frozen mussels in the U.S. market.

The full line of pre-cooked, sustainable Chilean blue mussels will officially debut at the International Boston Seafood Show, which kicks off on Sunday.

The mussels are available for both the retail and foodservice markets and ship directly from the waters of Chilean Patagonia. The line consists of whole shell, half shell, mussel meat as well as sauced and breaded mussels. The mussels are available in three sauce varieties: Mussels in White Wine Sauce, Mussels in Butter and Garlic and Mussels in Tomato Garlic Sauce. The retail versions can be steamed in the pouch or heated on the stovetop.

“Not only are mussels the right product at the right time, but our product line is perfectly suited for the seafood retail and foodservice markets today,” said Ron Christianson, VP of U.S. sales for Ocean Beauty, which is based in Seattle. “These mussels are mild and clean tasting, and they’re a great value. How many seafood items can you name today that are truly affordable? Combine affordability with convenience, high omega-3s and a great eating experience, and we see explosive growth in this category.”

Ocean Beauty, one of the United States’ largest seafood producers, has numerous brands, including Echo Falls, Icy Point, Lassco, Sea Choice, Port Clyde, Three Star and Pink Beauty.
