As part of a refresh across its entire frozen foods department, the U.K. stores of retailer Tesco have debuted several new seafood products under its own-label product line, along with a few new branded seafood items.

The Welwyn Garden City, U.K.-based retailer introduced 17 new product lines and revamped seven existing products across meat, fish, and poultry, the retailer said in a release.

Among the 15 new own-brand seafood SKUs are several products geared toward holiday family meals and entertaining. These include Tesco Finest 2 Whole Raw Lobster Tails, AYR Finest Whole Cooked Lobster, Christmas Tesco 16 Prawn Selection Pack, Christmas Finest Prawn Platter, Christmas Tesco Prawn Toast, Christmas Tempura King Prawns, Christmas Tesco 12 Salt & Pepper Prawns, Tesco 8 Mini Prawn Cocktail Vol-Au-Vents, and Tesco Christmas Fish and Chips Sandwiches.

New branded seafood items include Birds Eye Battered Prawns, Birds Eye Breaded Prawns, itsu prawn bao’sliders, Kitchen Joy Thai Cube Prawn Wonton Drunken Noodles, Kitchen Joy Thai Sides King Prawn Wonton Tom Yum Soup, and Young’s Chip Shop Jumbo Pollock.

“We are excited to bring the biggest change to our frozen aisle in nearly a decade, with more than 270 new and improved products,” Tesco Frozen Category Director Naomi Kasolowsky said. "Frozen food is fantastic quality, super convenient, and offers great value. We know our customers will love the changes coming this autumn as we improve both our Tesco range and introduce exciting new brands to the shelves.”

The new products, launched in mid-September, make hosting Halloween parties, bonfire night get-togethers, or Christmas gatherings “easier and tastier than ever before,” Tesco said.

The new releases also align with broader consumer trends, as one-third of Brits eat frozen food at least twice a week, Tesco research found. Further, Tesco added air fryer instructions on all of its own-brand products because 63 percent of Brits buy frozen food for convenience, according to the retailer.
