Young's debuts gluten-free fish fingers

Young's Seafood on Tuesday launched the United Kingdom's first gluten-free fish fingers.

Free From Fish Fingers are made with 100 percent fish fillet and coated in a gluten-, wheat- and dairy-free breading. Like the other products in Young's Free From line, Fish Fingers are also free of artificial colors and flavors and are a natural source of heart-protective omega-3 fatty acids.

Young's is targeting time-pressed mothers and consumers with a restrictive diet.

"We identified a clear opportunity for this type of product earlier this year, and the response so far has been amazing - both in terms of sales and dozens of positive calls from people," said Charlotte Broughton, marketing controller for Young's breaded seafood products. "To date, such products have been poorly represented in the frozen cabinet. But given this feedback, it seems there is certainly demand and we'll be considering other opportunities for Free From within our wider range going forward."

Free From Fish Fingers are available in 300-gram packages of 10 fingers for GBP 1.79 (USD 2.94, EUR 2.08) at supermarkets across the United Kingdom. Morrisons, Tesco and Asda are among the retailers carrying the product.
