Global Shrimp Council names Esther Luiten executive director; Chicken of the Sea Frozen Foods appoints Vnay Bedi

- The Reston, Virginia, U.S.A.-headquartered Global Shrimp Council (GSC) named Esther Luiten executive director amid the marketing organization’s expansion efforts, which include the Happy Protein and Shrimp More Often campaigns. 

Luiten is a twenty-year veteran of the seafood industry who worked for more than a decade at the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) and held leadership roles at IDH and the North Sea Foundation. 

“Our industry has an enormous opportunity to tell a stronger, more unified story about shrimp,” said GSC Chairman and Co-founder Gabriel Luna. “With Esther’s leadership, we are confident the GSC will continue building momentum and creating value for the entire sector.” 

Luiten said that she looks forward “to bringing [her] experience and energy to the Global Shrimp Council and to working with members and partners around the world to help shrimp become a more visible and trusted choice for consumers.” 

-Chicken of the Sea Frozen Foods (COSFF) has appointed Vnay Bedi as senior vice president of business development.

“I am excited to join Chicken of the Sea Frozen Foods at an important point in the company’s evolution,” Bedi said in a release. “COSFF has built a strong reputation for quality, innovation and customer partnership. I look forward to working with the team to develop new opportunities, bring seafood solutions to market and create long-term value for customers and stakeholders.”

As vice president, Bedi will be charged with leading the division's business development strategy, working across channels to expand COSFF’s market presence and grow profits.

According to COSFF, Bedi brings more than 20 year of leadership experience to the role with a background in retail, foodservice, and consumer packaged goods. He also has experience in "building teams, developing commercial platforms, cultivating customer partnerships, and bringing new products to market."

“Vnay brings the commercial experience, strategic perspective and customer focus needed to help advance COSFF’s next phase of growth,” Chicken of the Sea Frozen Foods President Dan Halford said in a release. “His ability to identify opportunities, build partnerships and lead cross-functional initiatives will be valuable as we expand our value-added portfolio and invest in new business platforms. We are pleased to welcome him to the COSFF team.”

El Segundo, California, U.S.A.-based Chicken of the Sea, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Thai Union Group, established the COSFF division in 2006 to expand the brand's presence in the frozen seafood sector.
