Norwegian halibut farming company Nordic Halibut said construction of its Tingvoll facility is on track to receive fish this month.
In an operational update, the company said construction on the Torjulvågen, Tingvoll-based production facility was on schedule throughout Q2 2026. Nordic Halibut is targeting an annual production level of 10,350 metric tons (MT) of halibut by 2031, and the facility will be a key part of that by producing juvenile halibut at a flow-through system.
“The facility remains on track to become fully operational by 2027 and will play a key role in supporting the Company’s scale-up strategy,” Nordic Halibut said.
The company said during Q2 2026 it achieved an average sales price of NOK 170 (USD 17.48, EUR 15.29) per kilogram for its fresh head-on gutted (HOG) halibut, which is consistent with the sales price it achieved in 2025.
It harvested 201 MT of HOG halibut in the Q2 2026, down from the 268 MT it harvested in Q2 2025. The company has been employing a delayed harvest strategy to focus on harvesting larger fish, and the average weight of the fish harvested during the quarter rose to 5.2 kilograms HOG, up from the 4.3 kilograms HOG that it harvested in Q2 2025.
While harvests were down, the company said it is still on target with 470 MT of HOG halibut harvested so far in 2026.
Revenue from those sales reached NOK 30 million (USD 3.1 million, EUR 2.7 million) based on a total sales volume of 182 MT. Those sales were made up of 147 MT of fresh HOG halibut and 35 MT of frozen HOG halibut.
The farm's performance has also been on target, with 12.3 percent increase in biomass in Q2 2026 compared to the prior quarter. Including the harvested biomass, the company saw 18.8 percent growth in biomass in its sea-based production.
The update comes soon after Nordic Halibut finalized the acquisition of Pure Norwegian Salmon from Måsøval. The company said the acquisition secures full control of its harvesting and processing operations and adds to its earlier acquisitions of Gulbygget and Thule Marine to add production capacity.
The acquisition of Pure Norwegian Salmon came after it resolved a dispute with Måsøval. It was also shortly before Måsøval was itself acquired by SalMar.
