Poland’s Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) has greenlit Captain Fresh’s acquisition of seafood processing company Morex.
The company filed to acquire Morex under its holding company Infifresh Foodtech, which is registered in Oslo, Norway, in July 2026. Morex is a producer of a range of seafood products, including herring, hoki, salmon, hake, saithe, halibut, pollock, mackerel, trout, and pike-perch.
The application page said the case was closed on 3 September 2026 and approved of the company’s application.
A Captain Fresh spokesperson said the company had no comment on the transaction at this stage.
Morex is headquartered in Gdynia, which is also where Captain Fresh’s subsidiary Koral – a salmon smoker the company acquired in 2024 – is based. Captain Fresh has acquired a number of seafood companies in recent years, including Spanish tuna giant Frime in March 2026, Ocean Garden’s brand portfolio in February 2025, and Central Seaway Company (CenSea) in February 2024.
Captain Fresh CEO and Founder Utham Gowda told SeafoodSource during thisbyear's Seafood Expo Global that the company plans to continue its acquisition strategy to build a portfolio of seafood companies across major species, with the ultimate goal of becoming a USD 4 billion to USD 5 billion (EUR 3.5 billion to EUR 4.3 billion) company.
