Andrew Mallison has resigned as the chief executive officer of the Global Aquaculture Alliance.
The Portsmouth, New Hampshire, U.S.A.-based Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) is an international, nonprofit trade association dedicated to advancing environmentally and socially responsible aquaculture. It created and operates the Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification standards.
Mallison was hired as GAA’s executive director in February 2018, replacing Wally Stevens, who began his tenure as the organization’s executive director in 2007. Stevens has stepped back into his former role “until a replacement is found,” according to a statement from GAA.
“We appreciate the contributions that Andrew has brought to our organization, and we look forward to working with him on strategic issues going forward,” Stevens said. “The search for my replacement for the CEO position will begin soon.”
Mallison joined GAA after more than seven years as director general of IFFO-The Marine Ingredients Organisation. According to his LinkedIn profile, Mallison has now moved into a part-time strategic advisor role at GAA, “providing advice on forward business planning to the GAA Board of Directors and others in the seafood industry.”
The change in roles was confirmed by GAA, which gave no reason for Mallison’s resignation.
“Andrew will continue as a strategic advisor to GAA’s executive committee, which is part of the organization’s board of directors,” it said.
