Kevin Larsen leaves Bornstein for Peter Pan Seafood

Kevin Larsen is leaving his position as vice president of sales and business development at Bornstein Seafoods to join Peter Pan Seafood as its vice president of international sales and business development.

Larsen has been at Bornstein since June 2017. Previously, he served as European sales manager for Icicle Seafoods from 2012 to May 2017, and as vice president of Pacific Fish and Seafoods from 2005 to 2012, according to his LinkedIn profile.

“Larsen is a proven seafood sales leader with a diverse background in seafood sourcing and sales,” Peter Pan Seafoods said in a press release. “Larsen comes from a seafood family. His dad was a fisherman in Southeast Alaska, and following in his footsteps, Larsen fished Southeast Alaska for eight seasons before joining the sales side of the industry. Throughout his career he has worked up and down the West Coast, most recently at Bornstein Seafoods. In addition to extensive experience in domestic U.S. sourcing and sales, Larsen brings extensive international sales and experience, particularly in Europe, from his experience at Icicle Seafoods.”

Peter Pan was sold in January 2021 by Japanese conglomerate Maruha Nichiro to entrepreneur Rodger May, McKinley Capital Management, and the RRG Global Partners Fund. The Bellevue, Washington, U.S.A.-based company operates four seafood processing facilities in Alaska – in Dillingham, King Cove, Port Moller, and Valdez – as well as value-added sales channels operated under Northwest Fish Co.

“Kevin brings so much to the table for Peter Pan. He’s a great team-builder and he’s going to be a key leader of Peter Pan’s sales team,” said May, who now serves as Peter Pan’s president and chief growth officer. May is also the owner of Authentic Wagyu, Copper Leaf LLC and MayDay Movies.

Larsen is the second major hire made by Peter Pan in the last three months, following Peter Pan’s hiring of former Silver Bay Seafoods COO Jon Hickman to serve as its vice president of Alaska operations in January 2021. Larsen said his experience in the seafood industry will complement and help expand Peter Pan Seafood’s trading business.

“I have a passion for the seafood industry and working in sales. I most value the relationships I’ve made over the years because the people I’ve met and worked with aren’t just business partners, they’re really my friends,” he said. “My experience at Bornstein Seafoods has been invaluable, and I’m excited to join the Peter Pan team. I’ve always had a love for seafood, but Alaska is also really special to me and so when I had the opportunity to join a company with such a long and established history in the state, I had to take it.”
