Morgère opens new production facility

Morgère, a manufacturer of fishing equipment with a specialization in trawl doors, has announced the opening of a new production facility in Miniac-Morvan, France.

The new 2,500-square-meter facility will allow the company to utilize new production techniques, larger storage units, and more efficient production line management, the company said. The company, established in 1902, manufactures a range of trawl doors and associated equipment for demersal, smi-pelagic, and pelagic fishing.

“The team at Morgère are delighted at this major investment in our new production facility, which will bring immense benefits to our growing number of customers,” Morgère Managing Director Pascal Reverseau said. “We have a long tradition of supplying high-performing trawl doors and other fishing equipment, and the Miniac-Morven facility provides an exciting opportunity for new growth.”

The company manufactures a range of trawl doors, including the “Exocet” and “Osprey.” According to Morgère, the Exocet’s lower angle of attack reduces drag and increases fuel efficiency, while the Osprey semi-pelagic trawl door system “delivers excellent results for fishermen.”

“The key to the success of Morgère has been the intensive and sophisticated research work behind the design and development of their trawl doors,” the company said. “This includes the use of computational fluid dynamics research focusing on the hydrodynamics of the new trawl door design to optimize performance.”
