Southern Europe: December 2019 market update

In the previous Southern Europe Market Update, ShrimpTails reported that the Argentine red shrimp (P. muelleri) had been a disturbing factor in the market. According to local sources, this is still the case.

With prices of onboard-frozen Argentine red shrimp products being low, importers expect prices for land-frozen products of the new season to be even lower. On the positive side, overall shrimp stocks are generally not as high as last year, the economy is doing very well, and low sales prices are causing higher demand.

Aside from the Argentine red shrimp situation, Southern Europe’s outlook for 2020 is relatively positive.
