Higher third-quarter salmonid, whitefish harvests for Lerøy

Lerøy Seafood Group harvested 56,400 metric tons (MT) of gutted-weight farmed Atlantic salmon and trout in the third quarter of this year, representing a year-on-year increase of 12,200 MT.

According to the Bergen, Norway-headquartered fish farming and fishing company’s latest trading update, the volume produced at the Lerøy Aurora sites in Q3 2021 almost doubled to 15,700 MT. At the same time, Lerøy Midt’s harvest increased by 900 MT to 22,900 MT, and Lerøy Sjøtroll production was up 3,500 MT to 17,800 MT.

Some 8,400 MT of the total harvest volume in the three-month period was trout, up from 7,500 MT in Q3 2020.

Meanwhile, in LSG’s Wild-Catch segment, Havfisk's total catch volume in the third quarter was 12,300 MT, representing an increase of 1,200 MT compared with the corresponding period of last year. This total included 3,400 MT of cod, which was double the volume reported for Q3 2020.

LSG’s full third-quarter 2021 results will be published on 11 November.

Last year, the group harvested a total 170,800 MT of salmonids, with Lerøy Aurora producing 35,000 MT, Lerøy Midt 67,900 MT, and Lerøy Sjøtroll 68,000 MT. Havfisk's 2020 wild catch amounted to 68,400 MT, including a cod catch of 23,600 MT.

For the full-year 2020, the group’s revenue reached almost NOK 20 billion (USD 2.3 billion, EUR 2 billion), while its operating profit was under NOK 1.9 billion (USD 221.8 million, EUR 191.8 million).

For the full-year 2021, LSG estimates a 2020 total salmonid harvest between 205,000 and 210,000 GWT, including its volume from associates, as well as a whitefish catch of approximately 73,000 MT.

Last month, the group successfully completed new senior unsecured green bond issues of NOK 500 million (USD 58.4 million, EUR 50.5 million) with maturity 17 September, 2026, NOK 500 million with maturity 17 September, 2027, and NOK 500 million with maturity 17 September, 2031.
