OBI Seafood and Trident Seafoods have won contracts to supply nearly USD 7 million (EUR 6 million) worth of canned pink salmon for the U.S. government’s child nutrition and other domestic food-assistance programs.

Seattle, Washington, U.S.A.-based OBI Seafoods won the majority of the contract, worth nearly USD 5 million (EUR 4.4 million). Trident Seafoods, also based in Seattle, received the remaining USD 2 million (EUR 1.8 million) of the contract.

The two seafood suppliers will deliver the salmon between February and June 2022.

The USDA also awarded contracts for canned pink salmon in November 2021. OBI Seafoods won the majority of that canned pink salmon contract, worth a total USD 5.87 million (EUR 5 million). OBI will supply around USD 4.9 million (EUR 4.3 million) worth of the salmon, while Trident will nearly USD 495,000 (EUR 434,000) worth.
