The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is asking Alaska pollock suppliers to bid on over 7 million pounds worth of the fish.
The USDA is seeking bids on 7.258 million pounds of pollock. Bids on the frozen pollock fish fillets and fish sticks must be submitted by 23 July, and the winning bidders will be announced by midnight on 28 July, the USDA said in a notice.
The fish will be utilized in the National School Lunch Program and other Federal Food and Nutrition Assistance Programs.
Suppliers will make deliveries between 16 August and 31 March.
The USDA has made numerous other fish purchases this year, including nearly USD 23.8 million (EUR 22 million) worth of canned salmon and frozen pollock.
Offers must be submitted electronically via the Web-Based Supply Chain Management System (WBSCM). Suppliers should bid only quantities they can reasonably expect to produce and deliver, the USDA said.
