Norwegian salmon prices decreased 5.24 percent over the fourth week of January 2022, and are down 4.76 in 2023, according to the Nasdaq Salmon Index.
The total weighted average index of weekly sales reported and volumes of fresh Atlantic salmon reported by Norwegian salmon exporters and salmon producers found prices to be at an average of NOK 86.02 (USD 8.59, EUR 7.88).
Fish Pool also reported total sales for Norwegian salmon were down in the third week of 2023 compared to 2022. Salmon sales were up 7.5 percent from the week prior, but the increase was not enough to surpass the prior year's totals – all told, salmon sales were down 6 percent compared to the same week the prior year.
Over the last five weeks, the total volume sold has decreased by 8 percent, or 6,842 metric tons, compared to last year.
