El Segundo, California, U.S.A.-based Shinkei Systems announced it will expand its "Seremoni Grade" fish offerings, adding Alaska sockeye salmon to its portfolio with an investment into fisheries across Cook Inlet, Alaska.

Shinkei's patented system of robots allows fish processors to automate the “ikejime” process of slaughtering fish. The company has established what it calls “Seremoni Grade” fish, named after Seremoni Fish – a subsidiary of Shinkei Systems – which is intended to denote superior quality.

Now, the company has expanded into Alaska following the release of its PSDN-S harvesting robot that works on smaller vessels, such as those operating in Alaska

Seremoni Grade reflects our team's boat-to-plate obsession with quality,” Shinkei Systems Co-Founder and CEO Saif Khawaja said in a release. “Salmon gives us another opportunity to bring that philosophy to millions more people while we continue to champion American fishermen and transform how premium seafood is harvested.”

The new robot is 60 percent smaller than the flagship model but uses the same proprietary software, precision handling, and harvesting processes.

"Our technology only matters if it works in the environments where people actually fish," Shinkei Systems Co-Founder and CTO Reed Ginsberg said. "PSDN-S extends our platform to fit with the realities of Alaska's salmon fleet while preserving the precision that defines Seremoni Grade. It opens the door for more fishermen to participate, deliver higher-quality seafood to consumers, and advance a fundamentally better way to harvest one of the world's most important fisheries."

Using the ikejime process for Seremoni Grade fish allows the firm to process Michelin-grade fish and provide products to top restaurants worldwide such as Le Bernardin, Eleven Madison Park, Sushi Zo, Holbox, Providence, Restaurant Daniel, Blue Hill at Stone Barns, Bar Miller, and Kato. Seremoni Grade fish is also available for retail in Erewhon, Santa Monica Seafood, and Wegmans stores, as well as for online delivery through Fresh Direct.

"The addition of salmon builds on Shinkei's growing portfolio of Seremoni Grade seafood, including black cod, American red snapper, vermilion rockfish, and red grouper," the company said in a release. "By working with local seafood harvesters and processors, Shinkei equips participating fishermen with its harvesting technology at no cost and purchases their catch at a premium, creating new economic opportunities while ensuring more of each harvest reaches consumers at peak quality."

The move into Alaska comes after Shinkei Systems raised USD 22 million (EUR 18.9 million) in Series A funding in September 2025, doubling the size of the company's El Segundo headquarters. Also last year, the company purchased a Washington state processing plant.

Seremoni Fish also added several new hires in March 2025.
