Judges have pared a pool of 30 chefs down to 10 competitors in the Skuna Bay Taste of Derby contest.
The chefs — Kenneth Fazel, of Las Vegas; Carlo Lamagna, of Chicago; Andrew Sutton, of Anaheim, Calif.; Tedd Romero, of Napa, Calif.; Eric Larcom, of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; Riley Romain, of Beaver Creek, Colo.; Anthony Sasso, of New York, Jason Benegasi, of Pittsburgh, Nicholas Cataldo, of New York, and David Yusefzadeh, of Minneapolis — will all participate in one of two semi-finals, in Los Angeles and Chicago, with the two finalists going on to Kentucky. There, they will be VIP guests at the Kentucky Derby horse race, and participate in a final round of cooking.
The winner will receive recognition in a national ad in Saveur magazine.
The 30 chefs were chosen in the first qualifying round. The chefs submitted a recipe featuring Skuna Bay salmon along with a photo between 25 February and 17 March.
