The EU Fish Processors and Traders Association (AIPCE-CEP) on Thursday welcomed the European Parliament Fisheries Committee’s vote regarding the EU regime for managing the market for seafood products, often referred to as “common organization of the market.”

“The committee has sent a clear signal that it wants the new regulation to have greater coherence with existing legislation and not increase cost and complexity for industry or consumers. The committee’s amendments represent a good and balanced outcome, which lay sound foundations for future negotiations on this proposal,” said the AIPCE-CEP in a press release.
“AIPCE-CEP welcomes this positive direction set by the European Parliament at this key stage of the discussions. We look forward to a final outcome, which enables processors to continue to deliver sustainable supplies of quality fish to consumers at prices they can afford, enabling them to reap the huge health benefits from eating more seafood.”
