China preparing unfair trading act to crack down on food mislabelling

An unfair trading act is proposing fines of up to CNY 2 million (USD 301,400, EUR 256,600) for anyone putting false descriptions of products sold online.

The bill is currently at its third reading stage at the legislative committee of the China’s National People’s Congress, a rubber-stamp parliament.

The law could have significant consequences for false advertising of imports of seafood and other premium food products.
