Copeinca takes huge 1Q loss

Peruvian fishmeal and fish oil company Copeinca’s revenues and stocks have plummeted in 1Q 2013 compared to 2012.

According to Copeinca’s announcement, fishmeal and fish oil stocks at 1 January 2013 were only 7,848 metric tons (MT), compared to 76,829 MT for the same period.

Average revenue per ton was actually better than 2012, at USD 1,957 (EUR 1,516) per MT, up from USD 1,274 (EUR 987) per MT in the same period of 2012.

But stocks remained low, however, and total revenues for 1Q fell to USD 36 million (EUR 27.9 million), down from USD 99 million (EUR 76.7 million) in the first quarter of 2012.
