The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries yesterday announced that the deadline to submit required forms for the Hurricane Katrina and Rita Federal Fisheries Economic Assistance program was extended to Dec. 1.
Approximately 1,700 eligible participants have failed to submit the forms.
The program was created for pre-qualified licensed resident commercial fishermen, certain commercial fishing vessel license holders, wholesale/retail seafood dealers and charter boat fishing guides impacted by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005.
To date, the department has dispensed $18.8 million to more than 3,700 qualified applicants.
