Diversified rebrands Seafood Barcelona

Diversified Business Communications, producer of Seafood Barcelona, announced it is rebranding the event starting in 2014.

As part of a rebranding effort for all of Diversified’s seafood events, the show will be called Seafood Expo Southern Europe. The rebranding started last March with the International Boston Seafood Show & Seafood Processing America, now known as Seafood Expo North America & Seafood Processing North America. Since then, the European Seafood Exposition & Seafood Processing Europe held in Brussels, Belgium, has been renamed Seafood Expo Global & Seafood Processing Global. The Asian Seafood Exposition, which was recently held in Wanchai, Hong Kong, changed its name to Seafood Expo Asia.

“The new branding initiative unifies all Diversified Events serving the global seafood industry under one recognizable, strong brand authority.  All marketing initiatives will reflect this change, including the website, www.seafoodexpo.com,” said Mary Larkin (picture, left), Diversified group VP, and publisher for SeaFood Business magazine.

The announcement came as Seafood Barcelona celebrated its second edition 22 October.

This year’s event boasts 147 companies — up 9 percent compared to the inaugural show in 2012 — from 27 countries.

“We’ve very pleased to announce we’ve seen very health growth, especially considering the very challenging economic climate,” said Liz Plizga (pictured, right), show director. “From a perspective of space, the show has grown overall by 24 percent and about 40 percent of the exhibit space is represented by international companies and 60 percent by Spanish companies.

“We are also very pleased to announce a 50 percent increase in the number of regional an national pavilions. [Companies] had a positive experience last year and they’re coming back and many have increased their space.”
