Findus confirms part of sale talk rumors

London-based frozen food company The Findus Group has issued a statement confirming it is engaged in talks to sell its operations to London-based Nomad Holdings, but said the talks do not include sale of Findus’ Young’s Seafood division.

The business media began publishing stories yesterday that Nomad, fresh from its acquisition of Iglo Foods Holdings, was now looking to buy Findus. In its statement, Findus said it was discussing sale of its “continental European businesses” to Nomad.

“The scope of these discussions includes Findus Nordic (including Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark) and Findus Southern Europe (including France, Spain and Belgium) but not Young’s Seafood Limited, Findus Group’s leading fish and seafood company in the U.K.,” the statement said.

The statement was not a sale announcement. “These discussions may or may not result in a transaction.” The statement offered no further details, only saying, “A further announcement will be made in due course.”
