Former Heiploeg CEO joins Morubel

As of 1 September, Edo Abel has joined Belgian frozen shrimp processor Morubel as managing director.

Abels formerly worked at Dutch retailer Ahold/Albert Heijn in various positions and also served as commercial director at flour-producer Koopmeans. He began his career in the seafood industry in 2012 as COO and later CEO at Heiploeg BV.

The acquisition of Morubel by investment company Bencis Capital Partners on 1 July “gives Morubel the opportunity to achieve further growth in its core business: frozen shrimp and related seafood,” the company said.

“We are very pleased that Edo will strengthen our management team and wish him every success.”
