Icelandic catch volume drops, value up

Total catch of Icelandic vessels in November totaled 81,874 metric tons (MT), down from 90,570 MT in November 2012, according to the latest figures from Statistics Iceland.

However, value of the catch in November increased 13.8 percent, compared to the same month last year.

Over the period, demersal species accounted for 41,200 MT, of which cod accounted for 24,600 MT, haddock for 5,200 MT, redfish for 4,800 MT and saithe for 3,800 MT. The pelagic catch of 38,100 MT was mostly herring.
