Construction of the largest seafood processing facility in the Mekong Delta began on Monday.
When completed, the Minh Phu-Hau Giang facility will be capable of producing 20,000 metric tons of seafood products annually. The facility is expected to be operational in 2012.
Set in the Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang, the facility has an investment capital of VND 400 billion (USD 23.4 million, EUR 16.6 million), with the main investor being Minh Phu Seafood Processing Joint Stock Company.
