Positive 2Q results for Lighthouse Caledonia

Lighthouse Caledonia ASA on Wednesday released its second-quarter results.

The Scottish farmed salmon company posted an operating profit of GBP 1.74 million (USD 2.83 million, EUR 1.98 million) in the second quarter of 2009, up slightly from GBP 1.72 million (USD 2.79 million, EUR 1.96 million) in 2008.

However, the company recorded operating revenues of GBP 14.4 million (USD 23.4 million, EUR 16.4 million) this year, down marginally from 14.6 million (USD 23.7 million, EUR 16.6 million) last year.

Lighthouse Caledonia harvested and sold 4,672 metric tons of salmon in the second quarter of 2009, down from 6,030 metric tons in the second quarter of 2008 but up from 2,039 metric tons in the first quarter of 2009.

“We are pleased with the progress made in the second quarter,” said OddGeir Oddsen, the company’s CEO. “The results were characterized by the strong market along with the continued premium for Scottish salmon. Furthermore, the quality of fish harvested has been high.”

Lighthouse Caledonia represents approximately 20 percent of Scotland’s salmon production.
