Cranmeat_plateshot_318x203.jpg4. Greenpeace fumbles Bumble Bee alert. Online Editor Sean Murphy called out Greenpeace in his 4 November commentary looking at a Bumble Bee Foods report the nonprofit sent to potential investors of the company. The report was plagued with statistics that tended to be misrepresentations of data related to tuna consumption and albacore stocks. Although the group did include some accurate citations for data, it ignored other key data points from the same research, making its arguments one-sided and biased. Murphy pointed out the letter was too well-written and documented for mistakes such as this to “slip through.” Despite the letter to investors, Murphy concluded the industry will be better served with Bumble Bee Foods kept alive and well, with the company adopting more practical and eco-friendly practices.
