Cattle production is becoming increasingly bad for the environment, according to Michael Tlusty of the New England Aquarium, releasing seven times as much carbon dioxide as farmed salmon. Given the growing protein needs, along with the growing population, fish is slowing becoming a better option. However, certain skepticisms exist regarding aquaculture, like stereotypes associated with traditional farming. Not to mention, with food systems in general, there is always room for improvement. Wright concluded that although all food production impacts the environment, the goal is to do so as little as possible, making aquaculture the ideal choice.
