The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has awarded seafood suppliers High Liner and Trident Seafoods new contracts worth a combined USD 2 million (EUR 1.8 million) for Alaska pollock fish sticks in its latest bulk seafood purchase.
Seattle, Washington, U.S.A.-based Trident Seafoods received the larger of the two contracts, winning USD 1.6 million (EUR 1.4 million) to provide 684,000 pounds of frozen, breaded Alaska pollock fish sticks. Portsmouth, New Hampshire, U.S.A.-based High Liner was awarded USD 361,986 (EUR 318,550) to provide 152,000 pounds of frozen, breaded Alaska pollock fish stick.
The fish sticks will be distributed through federal domestic food distribution programs. Deliveries are set to take place between July and December 2025.
To date, USDA has awarded a total of USD 54 million (EUR 47.5 million) in contracts for Alaska pollock products this fiscal year, according to Association of Genuine Alaska Pollock Producers CEO Craig Morris. Trident Seafoods and Braintree, Massachusetts, U.S.A.-based Channel Fish Processing were awarded a total of USD 47.5 million (EUR 42 million) for Alaska pollock in March and split another USD 2 million in awards earlier in May.
The department has yet to issue contracts for a solicitation for 722,000 pounds of Alaska pollock products issued 15 May.
