The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is seeking bids on an additional 722,000 pounds of pollock fillets and sticks after awarding USD 2.3 million (EUR 2.1 million) in Alaska pollock contracts earlier in May.

Additionally, the agency is asking suppliers to bid on 900 cases of Atlantic haddock fillets. Bids on both contracts are due 22 May, and deliveries will be made between July and October.

If fully awarded, the new contracts would bring USDA’s fiscal year 2025 purchases to 24,594,000 pounds, Association of Genuine Alaska Pollock Producers (GAPP) CEO Craig Morris told SeafoodSource. Including this most recent solicitation, the USDA will likely purchase more than USD 55 million (EUR 49 million) worth of pollock for 2025, Morris said.

Meanwhile, Consolidated Catfish Producers in Isola, Mississippi, U.S.A., was the sole winner of the USDA’s latest contract award for domestic catfish.

Consolidated will be paid more than USD 988,000 (EUR 884,000) to supply 230,000 pounds of catfish for domestic food distribution programs. It will deliver raw catfish fillets and breaded catfish strips between July and December 2025.

The USDA asked for bids on the catfish in late April, with a deadline of 6 May to respond.
