The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has awarded contracts worth a total of USD 2.8 million (EUR 2.4 million) for Alaska pollock products as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to support the commercial pollock sector.
Seattle, Washington-based Trident Seafoods secured the bulk of the money awarded, but Sitka, Alaska-based Silver Bay Seafoods also won a contract to provide Alaska pollock for the nation’s supplemental nutrition programs. According to USDA, Trident Seafoods was awarded USD 2.3 million (EUR 2 million) to supply 1,227,600 pounds of frozen Alaska products. At the same time, Silver Bay Seafoods was awarded USD 522,720 (EUR 446,110) to supply 277,200 pounds of frozen Alaska pollock products.
Deliveries will take place between 1 August and 31 December 2025.
The Genuine Association of Pollock Producers said this latest pollock purchase brings USDA’s total spent on Alaska pollock products this year to USD 58,285,158 (EUR 49,740,953) in value. By value, that makes 2025 the fourth biggest year for USDA pollock purchases ever.
