USCS to open Indiana facility

United States Cold Storage on Wednesday announced it will open a distribution center in Lebanon, Ind.

The USD 38 million (EUR 28 million) facility will feature convertible temperature rooms, an enclosed shipping/receiving dock and CO2 Cascade refrigeration technology.

"We are looking forward to opening our Lebanon operation to our customers. It provides a strategic alternative for food companies and retailers who want easy access to Indianapolis and Ft. Wayne, Ind., St. Louis, Columbus and Cincinnati, Ohio, and Louisville, Ky.," said Larry Alderfer, VP of corporate development. "This location allows product to be positioned for direct access to the southern and eastern United States."

When complete, the facility will feature more than 24,000 variable-height pallet positions in temperatures ranging from minus-20 F to 55 F.

Services include an advanced warehouse management system with radio frequency bar code scanning, and eUSCOLD® service that provides 24/7 online access to real-time account data. Custom handling services include slip sheeting, order case picking and USDA inspection and U.S. Customs bonded areas. USCS's PDQ Logistics and Transportation Management Systems will support customers' regional distribution needs through a proven LTL freight consolidation program, direct-to-store deliveries and cost-saving logistics analysis tools.

Public refrigerated warehouse company USCS offers more than 170 million cubic feet of temperature-controlled refrigerated warehouses at 31 facilities located in California, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Nebraska, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
