The Sustainable Shrimp Partnership (SSP) has announced three new associate members: Aker QRILL Company, EDISA, and MILANPLASTIC.

“We are very pleased to become part of this organization. Although we have collaborated on several initiatives in the past and have closely followed the important work SSP has carried out to strengthen Ecuador’s shrimp industry, we are excited to officially join this initiative and take on a more active role both within SSP and across the industry as a whole,” Aker QRILL Company CEO Webjørn Barstad said in a release.

Lysaker, Norway-based Aker QRILL Company is a major manufacturer of krill meal and krill oil for aquaculture feed.

Launched in 2018 at Seafood Expo North America, SSP is a precompetitive organization dedicated to improving sustainability and fostering responsible practices within Ecuador’s shrimp sector.

The new additions bring the group’s membership to 13 associate members, five founding members, and one collaborating member.

“We are excited to welcome Aker QRILL Company, EDISA, and MILANPLASTIC to SSP,” SSP Director Pamela Nath said in a release. “The addition of new associate members allows us to bring together capabilities, experience, and new perspectives to continue driving the continuous improvement of the shrimp industry. We are convinced that collaboration is the best way to identify opportunities that benefit the entire sector.”

Founded in Spain four decades ago, EDISA develops technology for the seafood sector, including enterprise resource planning software LIBRA and the Shrimp Digital Passport. Ecuador-based MILANPLASTIC provides packaging solutions with a strategic focus on aquaculture and the shrimp sector.

“For EDISA, joining SSP as an Associate Member reflects our commitment to the digital transformation of the shrimp industry and to the development of solutions that strengthen its sustainability," EDISA Business Development Officer Esteban Gallegos said in a release. Being part of this alliance gives us the opportunity to contribute our experience in digital traceability and to continue promoting tools that foster transparency, trust, and value creation throughout the entire value chain."
