Dave Melbourne, the senior vice president of consumer marketing and corporate social responsibility at Bumble Bee Foods, has informed SeafoodSource he will be retiring in June 2019.
Melbourne joined San Diego, California, U.S.A.-based Bumble Bee in 2015. In his current role, he serves on the company's executive committee and manages strategic and day-to-day operations for U.S. consumer marketing, advertising, research, innovation and new product development, corporate communications, public relations, and corporate social responsibility, according to his LinkedIn profile.
“I have enjoyed my 14 years at Bumble Bee and am thankful for the great colleagues I have had the chance to work with. I announced my retirement in November to provide ample time for the orderly transition of my responsibilities. I wish the company all the best in the coming years,” Melbourne told SeafoodSource in an email.
Melbourne was not moving to another job, but was rather “taking time to enjoy the family.”
Melbourne serves on the board of directors of the National Fisheries Institute, as well as the Tuna Council and Salmon Council working teams. He also participates on several working teams at the Grocery Manufacturer’s Association and is involved with the International Seafood Sustainability Foundation. He is the former president of the Shelf Stable Food Processors Association and still serves on its board of directors, and is a customer service advisory board member at the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute.
Prior to joining Bumble Bee in 2005, Melbourne spent 10 years at Castleberry/Snow’s Brands, a manufacturer and marketer of shelf-stable prepared foods, where he eventually became vice president of marketing and strategic planning. He joined Bumble Bee after it purchased Castleberry/Snow’s in 2005. Previously, Melbourne worked in the tobacco industry and as program manager for Junior Achievement of Southwest Connecticut.
