Norway appoints Harald Tom Nesvik as new fisheries minister following Per Sandberg resignation

Harald Tom Nesvik has been appointed Norway's new fisheries minister following former minister Per Sandberg’s resignation.

The governmental change was announced in an extraordinary session of the Council of State on 13 August, in which Nesvik was appointed with immediate effect.

Nesvik is a member of the Norwegian Progress Party and a former social and media manager at Solvtrans, a company that produces wellboats for the transport of live salmon and trout. This is his first ministerial post.

Sandberg resigned from the position and as deputy chairman of the Norwegian Progress Party after coming under heavy political pressure following a vacation that he took in Iran last month.
