2018 represented a watershed moment for the shrimp industry, not only on the U.S. front, but globally as well. 2018 has been another record year, surpassing even 2017 with an import volume of almost 700,000 metric tons. However, the increase in volume came at the cost of a decline in value. While we have seen prices drop around the world, in the U.S. prices dropped with as much as over USD 0.60 (EUR 0.53) per pound over the course of the year across all varieties, more than in most other markets.
