‘First Class Shrimp’ on the docket for Ecuador at SEG

The National Chamber of Aquaculture of Ecuador is offering attendees of this year’s upcoming Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global event – in Brussels, Belgium from 26 to 28 April – what it calls a “First Class Shrimp” experience, keeping in theme with a campaign launched back in 2015.

The “First Class Shrimp” campaign, which was launched by Ecuador last year, serves to “showcase the unique features that make our shrimp the very best and the strong values behind our business,” according to Ecuador’s National Chamber of Aquaculture.

“When we say our shrimp is first class, we assure our product is produced under the best aquaculture practices, being socially responsible and environmentally friendly, produced in compliance with international regulations and following the highest standards in the shrimp industry,” said José Antonio Camposano, executive president of the National Chamber of Aquaculture of Ecuador, in a press release.

Ecuadorian shrimp farming primarily uses a low-density production system (8 to 15 larvae per sqm), which allows shrimp to have more space to grow and puts less stress on the animals, the organization said. Ecuador is the top shrimp supplier to the European Union, the third to the United States and a significant supplier to Asia, the organization said.

Attendees of SEG16 are encouraged to visit the companies exhibiting with the National Chamber of Aquaculture of Ecuador, including Docapes, Edpacif, Expalsa, Langosmar Organic, Negocios Industriales Real NIRSA, Omarsa, Quirola Group and Sociedad Nacional de Galápagos SONGA, all stationed at booths 6-959 and 6-1068. Visitors are also encouraged to follow the hashtag #FirstClassShrimp on Twitter for updates from the Ecuador booths.
