Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada-based High Liner Foods is getting a boost from its partnership with McDonald’s on its new Fish and Chips meal.
In its marketing, the world’s largest restaurant chain calls out High Liner Foods as its supplier for the Atlantic haddock used in the meal, which is made with wild Atlantic haddock and served with fries and a tartar dipping sauce.
The Fish and Chips meal is available in McDonald’s Atlantic Canada region restaurants from 29 May through 20 August.
This is the first time the Fish and Chips Meal has been offered in the region on a wide scale, according to McDonald’s Canada. The Fish and Chips meal is limited to Atlantic Canada because the fish is locally sourced, according to Nikki Zamparo, McDonald’s Canada’s food and packaging sourcing manager for new foods.
“Throughout the limited-time offer period, we expect to order around 32,400 pounds of Atlantic haddock,” Zamparo said in a press release
Caught in Canadian waters off of Nova Scotia, the High Liner-supplied haddock is certified by the Marine Stewardship Council.
“With the Fish and Chips Meal, we’ve brought something unique to the table – not just made for Atlantic Canadians, but made by Atlantic Canadians,” Dave Murray, A local franchisee of McDonald’s Canada, said in the release.
