Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global is launching a new aquaculture innovation pavilion.

The pavilion will debut during the next edition of the trade show, running from 21 to 23 April 2026 at Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Vía venue in Barcelona, Spain. According to event organizer Diversified, the pavilion is intended to connect newer companies related to aquaculture technology with the global seafood industry. [Editor’s note: Diversified owns and operates SeafoodSource.]

“Aquaculture has always been an important part of Seafood Expo Global and Seafood Processing Global, with many established aquaculture companies already exhibiting,” Diversified Event Director for Seafood Brenna Hensley said. “The new aquaculture innovation pavilion is designed to highlight and support innovation by creating a dedicated entry point for startups, researchers, and suppliers who are delivering breakthrough solutions in areas such as farm management, environmental monitoring, smart feeding, genetics, fish health, welfare, and sustainable aquafeed.”

Hensley said the main driver behind introducing the pavilion was granting newer players in the aquaculture technology and innovation space more visibility and opportunity “while complementing – not replacing – the existing strong aquaculture presence at Seafood Processing Global.”

The new pavilion is geared mainly toward new entrants to Seafood Processing Global – whether that be a startup or a small- to mid-size company that may not be an established exhibitor at the event.

“The aim is to give them a successful first step into the event,” Hensley said. “Larger, established aquaculture suppliers are already well represented elsewhere in the exhibition, so the pavilion provides a dedicated platform for emerging innovators.”

Hensley said Diversified has a range of aquaculture innovations in mind for the pavilion, including sustainable feed, fish health, and welfare.

“While equipment and technology are a large focus, it isn’t limited to that; companies with solutions that improve operations, sustainability, or welfare in aquaculture are all welcome,” she said.

Hensley said that Diversified is only launching the aquaculture pavilion at this stage, but the company is always considering new opportunities to showcase innovation.

“The goal is to make this pavilion a strong success by giving startups and emerging companies a platform to introduce their innovations to the global seafood community,” she said.
